Welcome to the Bunbukan Dojo where the Chief Instructor, Suezawa Hideaki, has directed training since 1981.

The Bunbukan Dojo offers Aikido training to children from school age and above, where students learn to control their mind and body.

Adult classes in Aikido and Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo are offered. Both Arts are based on the principles and movement of using the Japanese sword.

Some points:

  • To start with, it is OK to wear comfortable sports wear.

  • We can help all new students to purchase their training wear if needed.

  • All other equipment is provided.

  • As a rule, Children's class is for primary schools students and above.

  • Primary schools students come to the dojo from around 17:00 for preparatory exercises.

  • Adults classes are for individuals from Junior High School age.

  • Adults classes will comprise a combination of Aikido and SMR Jodo practice.

Membership Fees:

  • There is a one time Admission fee of 5,000 yen.

  • Primary school students (Grade 1 to 4) - 4,000 yen per month

  • School students (over Grade 5) - 5,000 yen per month

  • Adults - 6,000 yen per month

  • Visitors - 1,500 yen per class

Suezawa Hideaki - Shihan

He began his training in Aikido with Shioda Gozo, and is one of the few remaining practitioners to have taken Ukemi from the founder, Ueshiba Morihei.

In 1981 he founded the Bunbukan Dojo.

Gradings held:

Yoshinkan Aikido - 8 Dan

Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo - Shomokuroku

Suezawa Hideaki - Shihan

He began his training in Aikido with Shioda Gozo, and is one of the few remaining practitioners to have taken Ukemi from the founder, Ueshiba Morihei.
